Some people like to live in the country. Others prefer the hustle and bustle of town. In response to people's different preferences and needs, The Camphill Family offers a choice of home - from the rural tranquility of Botton Village to our newest, urban-based community in St Albans.

In town and country

We have six communities in rural areas. Here, community members typically live in large, extended family-style households in a village setting, amidst the freedom and peace of the countryside. We also have five centres based in or near towns. These are often focussed on providing a home and work activities as well as support for those wishing to experience a more independent lifestyle - in a shared dwelling or place of their own, with the support of caring friends nearby.

Where the heart is

Wherever we live, we share in the responsibility for making our home life happy and caring - an environment where everyone feels accepted and encouraged to develop. As people change and grow, they may also wish to move between our different centres in order to explore new interests and different forms of community life.
